Study shows....

In a study conducted by RSF (Reporters San Frontiers or Reporters without Borders) shows their Press Freedom Barometer 2011 in the world that there were journalists died and suffered. According to their study 123 netizens imprisoned, 9 media assistants170 journalists imprisoned3 media assistants killed and worst 58 journalists killed. Unfortunately, two of them are Filipinos.
RSF also shows their Barometer for Press Freedom in the year 2011 in Philippines where there is only 1 journalist imprisoned name Julito Ucab under the station of DXBC in Butuan since 2008. Also, 2 journalists killed namely Romeo Olea - Iriga City, Camarines Sur, Bicol from DWEB station in Iriga and Gerardo Ortega – Puerto Princessa City, Palawan from DWAR station Radio Mindanao Network. Media assistants killed, media assistants imprisoned, netizens imprisoned where luckily 0 in number.
Another organization also conducted their study on how the increasing numbers of suffering journalists arise. According to the CPJ (Committee to Protect Journalist) by this year 2011 journalists killed by the top 3 beats covered by the victims, 56% Politics22% War and Crime17% Corruption10% Culture and Human Rights and 7% Business. Also, based on their statistical analysis the top three dangerous jobs are 24% Camera Operator22% Broadcast Operatorand Print Reporter/Writer and 20% Photographer. Based on their studies the top three death types were 39% Dangerous Assignment41% Murder and 20% Crossfire/Combat.
Just like RSF, CPJ also conducted a study in the Philippines from 1992 to 2011. Since 1992 72 journalists killed in Philippines. Largest number of which is last November 23, 2009 the Maguindanao Massacre.
And here it shows:
Beats Covered by the Victims:
61% Politics
24% Crime
7% Human Rights
1% Business and War

Job:

38% Columnist
29% Print Reporter/Writer
22% Broadcast Operator

Medium:

51% Print
50% Radio
6% Television

Gender:

92% Male
8% Female

Death Type:

97% Murder
3% Murder

Freelance:

10% Freelance

Local/Foreign:

100% Local

Suspected Source of Fire in Murder Cases:

70% Government Officials
14% Criminal Group
10% Unknown
7% Political Group

Impunity:

93% Complete Impunity
7% Partial Justice

Murder Victims:

44% Taken Captive and Torture
30% Threatened

As this death toll arises, the environment of journalists in Philippines was surrounded by fear and violence. Prevailing impunity, particularly in Mindanao, where it’s one of the world’s most dangerous place for journalism.
Journalism in the first place plays a vital role in the society. It is the authenticator, sense-maker, navigator and forum leader. Authenticator in a way it helps the audience figured out what to believe in. Making sense in driving meaning what is happening in the world. Navigator because it find their way around a story. Forum Leader in engaging discussion in a knowledgeable way. With this roles of journalism it never makes sense when they are being maltreated the way they never wanted to be. But it does makes sense when they do it as service for the people worldwide. Serving not for the benefit of their selves but for others who wanted to have the news “so far yet so near”.

RSF is France-based international non-governmental organization that advocates freedom of the press. CPJ on the other hand,  also promotes press freedom and defends the rights of journalists.

Reporters without Borders and Committee to Protect Journalist are both non-government organizations based outside the Philippines. According to which everyone has "the right to freedom of opinion and expression" and also the right to "seek, receive and impart" information and ideas "regardless of frontiers."

The study conducted in the midst of the year 2010-2011.

Chaotic Desperation

“With great power comes great responsibility”, Spiderman once said. He said this proudly as he became the all time superhero were everybody can lean on him. Likewise here in the Philippines we have had someone we can lean on and that is the President of our dearest Republic of the Philippines.
September 21, 1972. The day when the herculean President Ferdinand Marcos vigorously declared Batas Militar, translated to English it is Martial Law. A government where we are under a dictatorship of a President, it all lies into him. We are in the government that all the inquiries and transactions of the country lies into the lips of the President.
One of which is the Media Suppression, where it orders an order that directly impedes the media’s ability to report freely. This is oppressive as it is. To the journalist and as a citizen of the Philippines this has been a long burden. Unreasonably burdensome, depressing to the spirit of the citizens who doesn’t have any knowledge what are the current happenings under an administration. We all have the right to know and right of information. Disabled persons, deaf, blind, mute, girl, boy, bakla, tomboy we all have the inevitable right to be informed. But what happened during the Marcos regime is the perfect nightmare we all don’t want to happen. Media as it says is the “voice of the voiceless” and because of this suppression voiceless becomes more voiceless, found to be nowhere.
In time, suppression of media may entail some advantages and disadvantages still we the citizens of the country also entails so much freedom. We may have this freedom it should be perfectly partnered with limitations. Also, having the power of this freedom we may not tend to overused it not like the other influential people who tend to abused this pre-existing gift of life and look at what happen a chaotic desperation.

The Apple of my Pie, The Straw to my Berry, A Person Adjacent to my Heart and My Celebrity Apprentice

It's so hard for me to describe our friendship in one unique word. I need hundreds of short and long bond papers just to describe and scribe you. It's SHOOOOOWWTIMEEE !!! HAHA! Grasp you? didn't I?
(just play along and enjoy reading the rest of the note)

Looking back at the time (past), I cannot believe i have reached this stage of life where i am young, free and time is endless (is that so? there's always a deadline you know). I posses a magic, a magic enabling me to catch you in my life.

I never knew that you came and cross into my life.

June 8,2010. Typical Tuesday. 5th floor of USJ-R. Room 510.

When I first came in the room, few people was there... immediately a bunch of girls walking through the entrance of the room. (HAHA! mas gwapa japon ko nila !). Then, a girl instantly caught my attention (char!). A girl that is not short nor tall, cheek bony, plain and simple suddenly sat down on the chair in front of me. What catches me most of my attention was that she is wearing a glasses. HAHA ! The first thing that pops up in my mind is that OH! a genius girl . Another thing was, a genius girl wearing a glasses at the same time discreetly texting.

We never exchanged smiles or small talks since she wouldn't say anything and i wouldn't say anything too, so there. The bottom line was we were completely strangers. (HALA KA DHA LISA !)

I already forgot why we really became that best of friends. i also forgot why, when and where we barter our mobile numbers. But mos importantly we became friends. (MAO jud !)

Ever had that when you get stones in between your toes? or had a dip in a cool fish pond? or eating a pancit canton with a peanut butter topping (LAMI BYA !) ? don't you feel frigid and warm inside? haven't too experience quaffing large amount of food ? Well, it's not related to anything about Lisa, HAHA! what i mean was that Lisa is a good companion. That is why you are the apple of my pie and the straw to my berry. I feel cozy with you. Lisa is the most comfortable friend to be with that you'll surely love and like, it's the most natural thing in the whole world. CHAR !

Why you are the person adjacent to my heart ? Why not perpendicular? not congruent? not complementary nor supplementary? HAHA! GEOMETRY.

Actually, no one else will have me, like you do. No one else will have me, only you. CHAR!

I JUST HAD THIS FORMULA FOR THE TWO OF US :
if one times zero equals none.
You plus me times us equals fun. HAHAHA! MATH NA SD!

And to all the people I met, may they be an enemy, a friend or a mere acquaintance. You are different. I just don't know why. I still need to find out.

You are my celebrity apprentice, aren't you ? (not referring to the reality show)

Indeed, you are the person I only knew (in the whole universe) to serve a certain time to learn a certain thing. in short, a learner.

It's funny to think how you learn lot of things from me. (naa ba ?)
If there is, well, THANK YOU !
I'm making things gradual for you. Easier for you to understand and absorb.

POOOOOOOF! TIME flee so fast, that people are like instant noodles and instant coffee in changing minds. There are times of departures and arrivals. Times that really people need to decide for the betterment of their selves.

I'm preferring to you my dear Lisa, when you said that you are going to shift another course I thought you were joking. But the truth is you really will.

As a friend, what i need to is let go for the person I love to be happy with something. that's what i did, i let you go.
Despite that chemise happen, we still remain friends like the way we do.

To handle yourself use you head, to handle others use your heart. That is what I learn from you.

There are many things that I want to share about us, but i think this note wasn't enough. (wala pa mahuman ha ?)

Hey, hey.. your high school friend will know how weird you are but your college friends will know why!! HAHA !
that is because of your power within. kahbw nka unsa na?

There are really memories that we've shared together. The most unforgettable was the day we went to "their" house (HAHA! basta kahbw nka knsa? ssshhhhh!!) We're partners in crime at that time.

the most moment i could ever imagine was when i pretend that i already passed away. HAHA! without knowing you cried. a lot. HAHA! love jud ko nimoh da !

You left the frays from the ties you reserved when you say best friends are forever. That's what i love you the most.,

I don't want to demolish the friendship that we built. i'll use bulldog super glue and might bond, that even a bulldozer cant destroy it.

Of all the circle of friends that we both have. I think we had this "Secret Alliance" (dli na cya secret) basta na feel q lang.

REMEMBER:
Never say happy when your sad, never say okay your not fine and never say alone when I am still here. CHAR !

(hapit na jud mahuman!)

i goggled this quote, referring to you. and it states.
"NEUM MELHOR NEM PIOR APENAS DIFERENTE" (understand? actually it's in Portugese.) PRESS 2 TO TRANSLATE.

T R A N S L A T E

pook.. translate !

"not better not worse just different" HAHAAHAHA!!

over season coast to coast you'll find a place you love the most where the fields are green to see you once again my friend. HAHAAH!!

ILY LISA !! GOD BLESS! AND THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING ! ♥♥♥

Undeviating Vicissitudes

They say, “There is nothing permanent in this world except change.” Yes, they are absolutely right. But there’s something oozing in today’s world that is adequately visible in my naked eyes and in my barefaced life. I always ended myself asking “Will there be a strong repugnance answers into this predicament?”. Well what I am referring into was my strong objection against this Filipino trait which Filipino loves to do. This is the Filipino trait that came from the annoying but tasty sea creature and it’s no other than CRAB MENTALITY.

I don’t know where this trait originated from and who initiated this one. According to Wikipedia, crab mentality is a way of thinking best described by the phrase “if I can’t have it, neither can you.” The metaphor refers to a pot of crab in which ones tries to escape over the side, but it is relentlessly pulled down by the others in the pot.

Everybody dreams of becoming the best in every aspect in the human life where there are competitions. We join contests to win. We fight to prove we are the greatest. We all want to get the golden cup or sparkling medal for recognition of our glory and hard work. In short, we all born to fight. Just like the saying “survival of the fittest.”

In our way to the top, we gather friend and peers for help and support. They make our goal-hunting easier and hassle-free. Providing smiles and laughter to wash the tiring competitiveness away.

But of course, when the road of our goal gets easier, everything changes from flowering to thorns, from white to black, from dawn to dusk, from sunrise to sunset and even from arrivals to departures. I have said earlier, everybody wants to become the best. But sometimes, this “everybody” is your friend.

This is when the real war begins.

People start to drag others down so they could work their way on top. Either you deny it or not, we possess this attitude. Crab Mentality. To win, we strive with our best until we realize that our best is not enough, we resort to our last option. The dark evil one: backstabbing, backbiting, gossip, lies, etc. All of these is under crab mentality. We destroy whatever good we have gathered through the way just for prize on top. The flower-friendly adventure has turned into greedy self-centering quests.

What we don’t realize is that our friends, the memories, the smiles, laughters… everything is more than the prize we kill for. All we have to do is open our eyes and see this. Then everything would be more different starting from you.

Why I talk about crab mentality? It is because in reality, this really happens at home, at school, at office, at work and even in our simple daily life.

Crab mentality is really sickening. Why would someone not let others to succeed? Instead of pulling other people, why not do something that would make them successful as well?

Crab mentality is another reality that really kicks. So sad, but true.

Since people master the art of this trait, therefore I say “There is nothing permanent in this world except change and crab mentality.” That is the undeviating vicissitudes.

Pathological Euphoria

Eversince I was a meek child, I always wanted to get inside a television or radio station. Thereupon, my wish was granted this time. During the class of MassCom 3, all of my classmates agreed upon to conduct a tour at ABS-CBN Cebu or shall i say Studio Facility Tour. From that moment on, furor is what I felt until the day it happens. Thus, as being on stage of excitement I undoubtedly volunteer myself to abduct the tour and be the activity coordinator. With all my perseverance and hardwork that I heartedly gave to this tour amidst the Final Exams that I have also to focus and study my other subjects, still I prioritize to spearhead the tour. Making letters, filing activity permits and going to offices just to make the letters and permits signed by the big bosses in my department was indeed my favorite past time. Together with Ronnie and Lisa, unfortunately we excruciatingly face different hardships. Especially, when the letters being sent in respective offices wasn't being signed. Also, we are being disapproved by ABS-CBN to the show we originally planned to visit. I never lose hope because I know everything will fall into place. Luckily, the letter was undeniably approved, but we were transferred to another show. However, looking on the brighter side, I am going to dazzle myself in enjoying this tour no matter what.
When the day came, I hurriedly went to the station bringing a burst of excitement and perspecting what would happen on that day. As my name called to already conduct the tour inside, I quickly responded like a cobra stings its prey. :)
So from there on, the real thing began. I have seen all the things inside the station from the smallest detail to the biggest detail of all the equipment and the station itself. Lastly, I already know the whereabouts of the station.
Bliss of joy and happiness is what heaven pours on me that time after witnessing the whole thing production of TV Patrol Central Visayas. One thing I can say, the people managing the show are in with apace vigor. Popping out on my mind, "If i would be one of them, will I be and can i do it?" Well. I think so.  HAHAHAHA! Euphoria.
To end this note, I am envisioning to propel myself working on the media society sometime, someday and somehow. I can appear on TV like nobody else does, people will hear my voice probably on radio or better yet reading my different compositions in newspapers and magazines. Furthermore, I can also be one of the below-the-line personnel or perhaps above-the-line personnel. Who knows?
